…from now on »wimbi« is »wimbi e. v.«. »e. v.« stands for »eingetragener verein« and means wimbi is now an officially registered organisation. wimbi is registered at the german court at beckum, registration # VR 786. the german IRS acknowledges that wimbi's goals are of »public benefit« and therefore you can deduct your donations to »wimbi e. v.« from your taxable income*.

so, why not make a donation today? :-)

today, thanks to the busy guys in canada, the english wimbi site got it's thousands visitor. there were 4750 pages viewed since we started in february earlier this year and the average viewer stayed for more than eight minutes. visitors to the english wimbi site came from 45 different countries. thanks a lot and keep on clickin'…

volunteers needed

wimbi has applied for registration with the un onlinevolunteer program. its a wonderful institution that connects people and organisations with volunteers who help them online with their ongoing projects.

talking about volunteers, we still need someone(s) to translate the wimbi pages into dutch and spanish. if you are intrested there is a word document on the downloads page (wimbitextgb) it conains the copmplete english text and some instructions...

consolidation and wimbi-forum

... spent the last two days consolidating the formatting and typography of all four wimbi-sites. after some attempts and trial and error finally succeeded in integrating a punbb-forum into the wimbi site (english only!) so now you can ask questions or give answers - just as you like...

good news from the local court in beckum. wimbi's statutes or ok. now we can hand in a request for exemption from tax at the IRS and after a founding session of wimbi's founding members we can register wimbi as a official german NGO at the court in beckum...

since most of wimbi's friends come from englishspeaking families wimbi's blog is also in english and in english only (je m'éxcuse, entschuldigung and pole!)

wimbi.net is now available in french (most of it). thanks to myriam who translated everything and made that extra effort even though she is very busy. i can see from google analytics that we have quiet a few visitors from france, but also spanish people and those from northern africa visit the french wimbi pages a lot...

now if anybody feels like it, there still is the dutch version i need some help with. any volunteers?

as of today the german IRS (finanzamt) will scrutinize wimbi's draft statutes to see if wimbi, if turned from a private one-man-show into a publicly recognized non profit organisation, qualifies as a "501-type" organization and can be exempt from income tax...

p.s.: whatever the outcome - we will publish all our donations and where they come from (territory) anonymously as well as what they were used for, every six month, on the download page in pdf-format.

a few years ago i bought a copy of "the chronicles of an african trip" in a very dusty antiquities shoppe in downtown nairobi from an old indian lady. the book, which the author had signed "... to my colleagues and friends at the kodak company. george eastman, 1927" is the precious acquisition ever to my little african library.

the book itself is more or less a lose collection of letters that eastman wrote to his secretary in rochester while he was on a safari in east africa trying to shoot an elephant (which he never managed to do, exept with his camera!)

i want to take mr. eastmans approach of not attempting any "fine-writing" but rather a "few notes as we go our way" and make it my own for this little blog about my wimbi-project.

especially wimbi's friends and followers are invited to return from time to time and see and read about my latest achievements and adventures as a travelling photography teacher.
